William Gurkin, son of Fredrick gurkin and Mary his wife, was born the 23 day of August the year of our lord 1799.
Mary Harrison, daughter of Nehemiah Harrison and Elizabeth his wife, was born the first day of November 1808.

2. Rufus Gurkin son of the same was born the third of September 1833 the year of our Lord
3. William Wiyhly son of the same was born the 12th day of April 1837 in the year of our Lord
4. Mettildah Gurken daughter of the same was born the 26 day of September the year of our Lord 1838
5. Mary Etten Gurkin daughter of the same was born the 13th day of February the year of our Lord 1840
6. Eliza Gurkin daughter of the same was born the 13th day of September 1841. Deceased August the 13 1843.

Bryan Hampleton to William Ghurkin [son of Frederick] $25.00, 90 acres Fork of Roper Swamp N side of S prong of sd Swamp, beg on the N side of the S prong of sd swamp at a pine running N 28 E 178 poles to a pine, then N 78 E 46 poles to a pine, then S 12 E 14 poles to a bay on sd swamp, and from there the sd courses of sd swamp to the beginning. Wit: Charles Wallis, Henry Wollard Jr. Feb Term 1831 by oath of Charles Wallis. [Bft DB 17, 73]. This land deeded to grandson William A. Gurkin August 14, 1858. Bft DB 68, 335. Charles Wallis as witness ties to 1825 will of Thomas Wallis and perhaps also to Jeremiah Gurkin. 1829 Sept 15. William Gerkin was a purchaser at the estate sale of Peter Burbage. Gurkin, 90 acres, for $10.00, beginning at a pine on the S end of Ropers Swamp and on the N side of sd swamp running N 28 E 178 poles to a pine, then N 78 E 46 poles to a pine, then S 12 E 14 poles to a bay on said Swamp then the various courses of sd swamp to the beginning. 1871 March 15. Horace Gurkin of the first part and James Latham of the 2nd part. All of Bft Co. I James Latham of 2nd part for $50, 50 acres, it being for a certain tract of land in Bft Co bounded as follows. N side Pamplico River in township of Long Acre N side Fork Swamp beg in a branch known as the Fox Pond running nearly W with George J. Wallis line to Hoyt N. Waters line & with sd Hoyt N. Waters line to a pine marked as a corner line & then from sd corner back so as to run nearly parallel with 1st line to a corner in a pine & to the 1st station. And for the better security of Horace Gurkin & his heirs, I James Latham assign the land to Horace Gurkin & his heirs out of the love & respect I have for William Gurkin except in the above tract of land so much fire wood as is necessary for the family's use of William Gurkin during his natural life. 1883 Sept 22. Heirs at law of Mary Gurkins dec'd to Hoyet Gurkins, all of Bft Co. That the sd Mary E. Gurkins, Eliza Gurkins, Israel Wallace, Rhoda A. Wallace, Harriet M. Gurkins, William W. Gurkins, Elizabeth Gurkins, Benjamin N. Ratliff, Emelie L. Ratliff heirs at law of Mary Gurkins dec'd have sold Hoyett, for $20.00, 20 acres land N side Forked swamp in Edmond Smith Patent whereon William Gurkins now lives, known as land given by Amos Waters to Mary Harris, also lying in the NE corner of named patent. 1886 Jan 23. Hoyt Ghurkins and wife Polly Jane of Bft Co to Prentes S. Waters, for $75.00, 16 acres land adj Prentes S. Waters & others beg at a pine stump in Ready Branch & known as the Edmond Smithwick patent corner then running the __? of Ready Branch to a line between Prentes Waters & Hoyt Gurkins which was previously made by Whitfield giving Mary Harris a deed for the same tract of land thence running with sd line to a Westward corner thence N to the center of a school house branch & with the center of sd branch to the beginning. 1888 March 29. The 1858 deed registered in which William Gerkins gave his grandson William A. Gurkin the land he had purchased from Bryan Hambleton in 1829. William Gerkins, Bft Co, for affection of grandson William A. Gurkins and for $1.00, land beginning at a pine on S fork of Ropers swamp & on N side of sd swamp running N 28 E 178 poles to a pine then N 78 E 46 poles to a pine then S 12 E 14 poles to a bog on sd swamp then various courses of sd swamp to beginning which land was sold by Bryan Hamilton to William Gurkins and from William to William A. Gurkins. If William A. Gurkins dies, the land to go back to other heirs of William Gurkins. Signed 14 Aug 1858 by William Gurkins. Wit: Robert B. Woolard, Prentes S. Waters. Oath of Robert B.
