William A. Gurkin was born about 1820, and was the son of Harmon Gurkin. Grandson of Charles and Great Grandson of Benjamin. His brothers were: Charles, James W., Horace and Henry (Hardy) B. Gurkin. Land transactions are recorded between he, Horace, James W. and others in Washington County. William A.'s son William Harmon and grandchildren Will Harmon,, Carrie Ann and Colon Lee are buried in Windley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, NC. Another grandchild, Charles Gray is buried in Jamesville, NC.
